Federal Hemp Update

The proposed Federal hemp ban is still being actively challenged.

Indiana Rep. Jim Baird, along with bipartisan co-sponsors, has filed language to delay any potential federal ban until 2028 with the goal of either stopping the ban entirely or rewriting it into something more reasonable and workable for farmers, veterans’ organizations, and small businesses.

Regulated 'Craft Hemp'

Bans any product with detectable THC  (including THC beverages & full spectrum CBD products)

Establish hemp regulation in Indiana through packaging/labeling requirements (21+) & business licenses for manufacturers, distributors, and retailers. 

As written, would remove most hemp products from the Indiana market 

Allow hemp products to continue in Indiana

If passed could take effect as early as July 1 (& Possibly allowing additional time for businesses currently operating, although though details are still being clarified)
